Yesterday, I started a 100 Day Challenge to see what I can manifest in my life over the next 100 days. I mentioned that one of the secrets to increasing your productivity was to write down the six most important things you must get done, and to work on them one by one until each is completed. This strategy is fundamental to manifesting your goals in your life. Continue Reading

I’ve recently decided to make the most of these next few months to really end 2009 with a bang. To do so, I’m implementing a 100-Day Challenge for myself, inspired by the women over at CoCreatingYourReality.com who have put together a website devoted to putting the law of attraction into action for 100 days to manifest whatever you want. In The Aladdin Factor, Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen of Chicken Soup for the Soul fame lay out a framework for asking for and receiving what you want. You may know Jack Canfield as one of the teachers of The Secret or the Law of Attraction. Unlike with The Secret, The Aladdin Factor isn’t concerned with the metaphysical (for instance, all you have to do is ask the Universe for what you want and wait for it to happen.) Rather, it takes the much more direct approach: become clear about what you want then ask people who have the means to help you to guide you towards your goals. Continue Reading

Pass It On is a motivational video, in the same vein as The Secret, about manifesting what you want in life. Like The Secret, Pass It On delivers its message through sound bytes with “experts” in the life coaching and motivational speaking industry including Michael Beckwith and John Assaraf from The Secret as well as a host of others like Mark Victor Hansen, Brian Tracy, Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk), Howard Putnam (former CEO of Southwest Airlines), Denis Waitley, former Congressman Ed Foreman and many others.
When the video begins, we’re taken into the bank of “sustainable abundance” where the dvd’s host, David Corbin, gives us the tour of four vaults which hold the keys to fulfill our dreams. Those four areas are wealth, inspiration, success, and happiness (which cleverly make up the acronym “wish”). However, the experts make it quite clear we can’t “wish” our way to success – it takes hard work. Fortunately for us, they’re here to mentor us to get to where we want to be. Continue Reading

Joe Vitale is known as a pretty heavy hitter in copywriting and personal development circles. He’s written 17 books, including some on marketing for the American Management Association and the American Marketing Association, as well as a ton of ebooks. With those kind of credentials, you may be a bit surprised to hear that The Attractor Factor is not about direct response or marketing ROI or blogging or any other buzzword you’ve heard recently but on ‘spiritual marketing.’ Continue Reading

Jon Gordon may not be one of the gurus in The Secret, but that hasn’t stopped him from writing this business parable about how one guy used the law of attraction to turn his life around.
George is downright miserable. His home life is in shambles. He’s got a major product launch in two weeks that must go well or he will lose his job. And to top it off, his car’s in the shop for the next two weeks, leaving George no other option but to take the bus to work each day. Could things get worse? Continue Reading

In case you missed it, Rhonda Byrne did a telecast tonight with the folks at HealthyWealthynWise.com. Not surprisingly, this was a feel good interview that focused on joy, gratitude, and visualization – the primary topics The Secret movie and book covered – rather than addressing some of the criticisms and concerns that have been brought up recently.
I joined the webcast rather than the conference call and had a few access problems, so I didn’t quite catch the first few minutes. Luckily, the connection soon steadied and I was able to listen to the rest of the call without problems.
Rhonda came across as a very positive and loving woman who really does want to spread love and joy throughout the world. I’ve seen her on Oprah and in The Secret movie, but in this interview, she opened up to fellow Secret star and Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul author, Marci Shimoff. Perhaps that’s because she knew Marci wouldn’t be asking the difficult questions. Continue Reading

If you hang out on YouTube at all, you’ll find all sorts of interesting clips. Today, I was searching for some stuff on Esther Hicks. I came across a handful that were extremely well done – here’s one where she talks about why thoughts matter more than actions. She doesn’t actually state that she opposes action. Here point is that you are clear about what you want, you’ll have to take less actions to get there than if you were unclear. (She’s speaking as “Abraham” here.) Continue Reading

Ever since Oprah started promoting The Secret, it seems everyone’s talking about the pros and cons. One question that keeps coming up is whether The Secret is harmful.
Though I’d agree that it’s somewhat deceptive or misleading in its attempts to claim science as its foundation, I don’t think it’s overtly harmful. Yes, the philosophy’s incomplete – and they haven’t spent much time hammering out the specifics – but if you simply take it for a “feel good” docu-drama, it’s not going to harm anyone. As long as you don’t think too deeply about the underlying principle of the law of attraction, the movie’s an inspirational piece to get you to sit up and take notice that you can control your thoughts and feelings.
