Beginning a 100 Day Challenge

I’ve recently decided to make the most of these next few months to really end 2009 with a bang. To do so, I’m implementing a 100-Day Challenge for myself, inspired by the women over at CoCreatingYourReality.com who have put together a website devoted to putting the law of attraction into action for 100 days to manifest whatever you want.

I’ve been meaning to participate in the challenge for awhile now, but you know, life happens, so I haven’t gotten around to it.

My 100-Day Challenge Goals

Well, the excuses are over. Starting today, I will focus on my four specific goals: paying off credit card debt, building an online business with passive income streams of at least $100 day, saving money (probably in the vicinity of around $10,000) to travel through Europe for a few months during the summer of 2010 and picking up a few language basics to get by – specifically, I’d like to learn French and brush up on my German. (I’ve outlined these over in the About Me section.) So that’s what I will be focusing on manifesting in my life over the next 100 days.

To make it happen, I’ve decided to do a daily blog post to keep myself on track and to motivate and coach myself through the manifestation process.

I’ve also set up a forum if anyone else wants to participate in a 100 Day Challenge where you can discuss your intentions over the next 100 days if you want to get more involved. Admittedly, I’ve just changed web servers and lost virtually all the data from the old forum, so we’ll be starting fresh. Just go to the 100 Day Challenge forum and post your intentions. Then, update your thread with periodic check-ins to let us know how you are doing. So, let’s get on to today’s tip.

How to Increase Your Productivity

Almost 100 years ago, a man named Ivy Lee approached Charles Schwab, the President of Bethlehem Steel, with a proposal. He told Schwab that he would increase employee efficiency and company sales if Schwab would allow him to spend a few minutes with each of the executives.

Being a business man, Schwab wanted to know what it would cost him. Lee told him nothing – unless it works. Give it three months, and then send him a check for whatever Schwab thought it was worth to him.

Three months later, Schwab sent Lee a check for $35,000 – which was a huge amount considering at that time, the average US worker was making about $2 per day.

What was the secret? How did Lee manage to boost the company’s productivity and revenue within such a short amount of time?

Prioritize Your To-Do List

The answer sounds really simple. He asked executives to make a list of the six most important things they had to do the next day and then number them based on how important they were. The next day, they were to start at the first task on their list. When they completed that task, they were to cross off that item and start on the next. If something didn’t get done, they would start off the next day’s list with that task.

Simple enough, right? Start with your most important task for the day, get it done, and move on to the next one. Don’t try to multitask. Just focus on completing one at a time.

So, for today – what are your six most important tasks you have to complete to move towards achieving your goals? Write them down, prioritize them, and start crossing them off your list one-by-one.
